Different Types of Cosmetic Surgery
Oftentimes, when someone mentions cosmetic surgery, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and face lifts come to mind. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 15.6 million cosmetic procedures, including both minimally-invasive and surgical, were performed in the United States in the year 2014. There are many different types of cosmetic surgeries and different cosmetic surgery options to choose from. Dr. Wigoda, the Chief of Plastic Surgery of Broward Health Medical Center, is here to inform you of the different types of cosmetic surgery.
Facelift – Rhytidectomy, meant to reverse the visible signs of aging. The procedure involves pulling the skin of the face back and tightening the muscle layer in order to provide a more youthful appearance. Dr Wigoda specializes in the natural facelift where patients still look like themselves, only better.
Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty is when the sagging skin around your eyes is removed. For lower eyelid surgery, excess skin is removed and excess fat can be used to fill in the “tear trough deformity”(the indentation under the eyelid that deepens as we age).
Forehead/Brow Lift – Browlifts are meant to reduce deep frown lines, sagging eyebrows, and the appearance of your face looking angry or tired.
Nasal Reshaping – Rhinoplasty, or nose job, is the reshaping of the nose to improve your appearance and also the way you breathe.
Breast Augmentation – Breast enlargement surgery is where implants are inserted for a larger or fuller appearance in the chest area. One of the types of cosmetic surgery involving breast enlargement performed by Dr. Wigoda is the painless breast implants option, with less recovery time and much less pain.
Breast Lift – Or a mastopexy, is one of the cosmetic surgery options that is meant to raise and reshape sagging or misshapen breasts. The extra skin is removed and then the leftover skin is repositioned to lift and reshape the breasts.
Liposuction – As far as cosmetic surgery options go, liposuction is the removal of fat deposits in the body that do not disappear after dieting and exercising.
Tummy Tuck – This procedure is to recontour the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the muscles.
Brazilian Butt Lift – This procedure involves removing fat with liposuction from anywhere excess fat is present, and then transferring that fat to the buttock to reshape and enhance the size of the buttock.
Dermabrasion – This procedure rubs out blemishes and wrinkles with a rotating tool to meant to remove the few top layers of the skin, leaving the layers underneath to be the new, fresh layers of skin. Dr. Wigoda uses dermabrasion most often to remove the wrinkles from around the mouth, and for the removal of leftover acne scars.
Botox and Fillers – Botox injections are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in facial skin and reduce the signs of aging. Fillers are used to restore volume to areas of the face, such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lips. These types of cosmetic surgery are non-surgical procedures.
This is just to name a few of the numerous types of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Wigoda is skilled and knowledgeable, considering all of the cosmetic surgery options available. Contact us today for a consultation.
