The Brazilian Butt Lift Explained
Over the past few years, Brazilian butt lift surgeries have gotten a great deal of attention. Buttock augmentation, Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, is the procedure that reshapes and enhances a person’s rear end through fat transfer. Dr. Wigoda, a Miami plastic surgeon, is here to share information on buttocks augmentations and how they are performed.
For the most part, Brazilian butt lifts are cosmetic procedures; however, this procedure can also be effective for those who suffer from congenital disorders, or have suffered from injuries in the past that cause discomfort or troubles walking or sitting. The purpose of the Brazilian butt lift procedure is for lifting, enlarging, and tightening the derrière to make it look and feel better than ever before.
This cosmetic procedure is different than others because it does not use synthetic implants, but uses the patient’s own body fat for sculpting the rear end.
- Patient receives anesthesia. General anesthesia is usually used unless it’s a very small fat transfer. Your Miami plastic surgeon will decide which of the two is right for you.
- Fat is removed from the source location. Most plastic surgeons in Miami will take fat from the area that it is not desired, such as the back, stomach, or thighs in order to be used for the butt lift.
- Fat is injected into the buttocks. The fat is then processed before injection. It takes several injections to distribute the fat to shape the buttocks.
After the Brazilian butt lift procedure, it is vital that you avoid direct pressure on the buttocks for at least two to four weeks while wearing a compression garment. There is very little recovery time when you receive a Brazilian butt lift in Miami, meaning that you are able to return to work about seven to ten days after your surgery. If you must sit, you need to be using a soft cushion underneath your seat. This should be used for six weeks. You can resume exercising about four weeks after your surgery, but it is important that you take it easy while listening to your body.
After undergoing a Brazilian butt lift surgery, Dr. Wigoda can ensure that you will have a fuller, shapelier derrière and less sagging in that area after the swelling subsides. This could take up to a couple of four to six months.
